Strategy Ledger for MT5: Analyse Every EA

Strategy Ledger for MT5: See What Every EA Is Really Contributing

When several Expert Advisors trade on one MetaTrader 5 account, the account balance only tells you the combined result. It does not immediately show which EA is driving returns, which strategy is adding drawdown, or whether several systems are effectively taking the same risk.

Strategy Ledger is designed to solve that problem.

What is Strategy Ledger?

Strategy Ledger is a read-only MT5 account analysis utility developed by Abdullah Uygar Tuna (MQL5 username: Mistermember). It reads your MetaTrader 5 account history, rebuilds completed positions and separates results by Expert Advisor, strategy and symbol.

The important distinction is that it is an analytics tool, not a trading system. It does not place, modify or close trades.

That makes it particularly useful for traders running multiple automated strategies on the same MT5 account who want to understand what each component is actually contributing.

Why a single MT5 equity curve can hide important information

A portfolio can look healthy overall while one strategy is doing most of the work and another is quietly reducing performance.

Strategy Ledger breaks that combined account result into separate views so traders can inspect metrics such as:

  • realised and floating P&L
  • profit factor
  • expectancy
  • drawdown and recovery
  • commissions, swap and estimated slippage
  • performance by EA, strategy and symbol
  • custom date ranges and equity curves

For multi-EA traders, that can make account review much more useful than looking at one headline balance or equity curve.

Strategy Ledger Free vs Strategy Ledger Pro

The standard Strategy Ledger is currently available free on MQL5 and is presented by the developer as a complete, maintained product rather than a restricted trial.

Strategy Ledger Pro, currently listed at $39, adds a much deeper layer of analysis. Current Pro features include:

  • strategy and symbol correlation
  • magic-number analysis
  • session and hourly performance
  • broker execution analysis
  • prop-firm limits and remaining room
  • fixed-lot replay for fairer strategy comparison
  • grade history
  • MT5 Strategy Tester report analysis
  • one-click Share Cards
  • support for 11 interface languages

One of the most useful additions for portfolio traders is correlation analysis. Running several EAs does not automatically create diversification if those systems behave similarly. Seeing correlation alongside individual performance can help expose hidden duplication.

Broker execution analysis

Strategy Ledger Pro also includes broker execution analysis, helping traders review how fills, slippage and execution quality can affect realised results over time.

The developer has published a dedicated explanation of the method here:

Backtests and live trading in the same analytical framework

Strategy Ledger Pro can also import MT5 Strategy Tester HTML reports and analyse them using the same ledger-style view used for live trading history.

Backtest results are clearly marked as simulated and are never mixed with live account data. This gives traders a consistent way to compare strategy behaviour without presenting simulated results as live results.

Built for inspection, not execution

Both versions are read-only.

Strategy Ledger runs locally in MetaTrader 5 and is designed to analyse account history rather than influence order execution. That separation is important for traders who want deeper reporting without introducing another component that can interfere with their EAs.

Who is it best suited to?

Strategy Ledger is most relevant for traders who:

  • run several EAs on one MT5 account
  • want to isolate individual strategy performance
  • need clearer drawdown and cost analysis
  • are building or monitoring an EA portfolio
  • want to compare live and backtested strategy behaviour more consistently

The more strategies you combine, the more valuable that visibility can become.
